This article argues for a strategy-based approach towards teaching listening comprehension in the ELT classroom in China. Some tips are offered for incorporating strategy instruction into regular listening lessons,including adoption of authentic listening materials and designing strategy-embedded listening tasks,raising learners' strategic awareness,and promoting learners' self-monitoring and evaluation of strategy use.
