This paper introduces a field of educational research called teacher learning as it applies to the teaching of second languages. Untilrecently, the study of second language teacher education is focused mainly on the knowledge base and teaching skills of teachers and teachers-inpreparation. The collection thus helps establish a research base for teacher learning within second language teacher education.
