At present,the effectiveness of a book classification method is usually qualitatively determined.This essay suggests a quantitative analysis method be used so as to evaluate the effectiveness of a book classification method more scientifically.Based on Classification for Chinese Libraries and Classification for Library of the Chinese Academy of Sciences,some evaluation indices are established and compared.The characteristics of the two classifications are described.
With the development of the Internet,digital library and electronic information,there are two classification methods for different media,that is ,book classification and Internet classification.The paper intends to demonstrate the possibility of combining the two classification methods by a comparative study.
