The tile-end with characters of Jinpu (禁圃) of the Western Han unearthed from Aozi village, Huxian county and another same one early found from Zhuyuantou village, Zhouzhi county show that two offices subordinated to Jinpu (forbidden park, belong to Shuihengduwei, 水衡都尉) located there. According to historcal records such as Shuijingzhu (《水经注》) etc., Weipu (reed park ) and Zhupu (bamboo park ) just located there or nearby. It is possible that the two parks were subordinated to Jinpu. That is to say, Jinpu consisted of Zhupu and Weipu at least. Because that Jinpu was belong to Shuihengduwei which was in charge of Shanglinyun (上林苑, a very famous empiral park of Western Han ), Jinpu’s western border was that of Shanglinyuan. The author points out that Jinpu took the responsibility of producing fruits, bamboo, and reed, etc. for the court and government. So Shanglinyuan in fact became a basement of supplying materials for the court and government. Take this in mind we can understand why Emperor Wudi (汉武帝) extensively enlarged Shanglinyuan.
